Mata's Mexican And Grill - Spartanburg

Walked into a most unimpressive atmosphere. The interior smelled more like cleaner than any food. The booth we were sat at was so uncomfortable. It rocked continually from side to side everytime you moved. I noticed it was moving even when we weren't...so I figured out, it even moves when the party behind us moves. Ugggh. There's a large counter opposite to our seating... filled with boxes. (see pics . Why? There was absolutely no ambience. As we await our food, I anxiously anticipate being able to raise my rating. (I'll keep you posted... OK, food came. It was good. All of us would rate our food 4 out of 5 stars. Since food is, of course, the most important aspect, I will weight the food more heavily and bring the overall to 3 stars. Note to management: this place could be much better. You need a fresh pair of eyes to identify what impression you're creating. I'm thinking there was no mgmt on the Sunday I went. It was evident. I will visit again one day and hope to increase my rating and update my review. I want good things for this restaurant.

First time dining in and I really enjoyed The Experience. My waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful. The portion size was great also. I will be a regular here.

Really cool Mexican spot right beside downtown Spartanburg, the food is amazing everything taste perfect every-time I come in. The staff is friendly and cool. I highly recommend getting Anna as your server she is funny nice and will take great care of you.

If you are looking for friendly service, a great beer selection, and some off the charts food this place is the spot! Not to mention the atmosphere is great for any group. You got an amazing outdoor patio that is very well thought out, a super bar for any game or sip, and some comfy booths that are big enough for just about any family. 10/10 would recommend.

Excellent service, friendly staff, nice outdoor patio and indoor layout! First time I ordered guacamole it had no flavor, 2nd time was better but not great. Food has been mediocre at best. Margaritas are sweet. My group meets there regularly and it has generally improved from ok to great, but not the food as much.
