I've been living in Speyer for a couple of months, and I decided to try something randomly tonight. I got into this restaurant, still a couple of tables free. I immediately ordered a bier - poor selection of biers on the menu: three spilled and two from the bottles, a Hefeweizen and an Alcoholfreies - and then I ordered a main course, Sahnegeschnetzeltes served with a salad and Butterspätzle. The dressing of the salad was very well balanced, the Spätzle were good too, but the meat was too salty. When the waitress asked at the end how the dish was, I politely told that it was good, but the problem was the salt, and it seemed she took it a little too personal. The main course I had was €16 and sincerely, for the quality they served me, I find this expensive. I don't recommend it.
Now, here you get honest German cuisine: various carvings and steaks, 10 different dishes. clear but tasty.Leider hides behind the name no great tapped black beer...another and a pils of the barrel, two bottled beer - pity. The device is very rustic and some 70s charm. You can't do anything wrong, but the competition around it is better.
Eating in the old Schwartz brewery was really good. the gaststube is a little retro, but if you can sit outside with nice weather, it is very pleasant. the service was friendly and effective. Special requests were no problem. the price-performance ratio is very good.
To car-free day belongs fish and the offered salmon from the grill did not leave any wish open. also the stone bite a year ago was excellent. the local wines offered round off the kullinarian pleasure.
