We have been to Splügen a few times over the past couple years, and had tried out all the more formal places first -- but I must say that the Piz Tambo is our favorite, and I will probably eat here every time I come back! Atmosphere is relaxed and friendly -- people stop in with their dogs, and play cards after they're done eating. The food is simple and local, and absolutely tops. I highly recommend the porcini mushroom fondue and the mixed meat and cheese plate.
A ver good lunch for two. simple but good food. we only snacked, a tomato soup and an egg salad, but both were lovely and well presented. The Chianti was good value and very drinkable. To be recommended. we thought it had by far the best menu in Splugen...
We stopped there by chance while driving over the San Bernadino pass and found a very cosy and remarkably nice restaurant. The place is correct and respects a traditional style; be it from the decoration or the menu. And by traditional, I don't mean old or worn-off. Despite being simple, it's still a very pleasant place to stay and enjoy a meal there. They also have an hotel which we didn't need, so I have no opinion on that, but the restaurant I'd recommend to everyone that is around. There seemed to be quite a few people from the region that seemed to be coming more often - for me, that's always a good sign.
