Make sure you Google directions, not easy to explain location. This place changed ownership! Now called, Bulldogs famous BBQ and brews. New look inside is very nice. BBQ and smoked meats are delicious! All of them! I recommend their food menu to anyone. The taste is GRRRREAT! 1 BLOCK WEST OF FREYA AND QUEEN, east Hillyard. Breakfast, lunch, dinner served??? 3 thumbs up, loll
Ok when we showed up it was a little sketchy to say the least. The smell when we first walked in smelled like a meat locker so we were kind of scared.. lol. But once we went into the bar/restaurant area we were greeted instantly. Our sever was amazing and the food was outstanding! I ordered the Kennel Club and it was hands down the best club sandwich I’ve ever had. The Mac and cheese side option was good but kind of lacked flavor, but the cheese dip appetizer was amazing! Definitely will be going back to try more.
Everything about this place was unexpected. From the weird location to the delicious food. If you're looking for great service and amazing BBQ it's tucked away on a little dirt road in Dogtown.
Mandi the bartender was fantastic. Friendly, and quick to serve a drink. Met Bob who talked to me about their BBQ. The food was fantastic. Chill spot off the beaten path. This place is a gem.
We have given this place two tries. First time they gave us a menu with most items scratched off. We were told that they sold a lot of their food for Hillyard days. I ordered pulled pork, beans and fries. The flavor was good. Service was good. Second time we went they again gave us a menu with a lot of the menu items crossed off. We did get to try the ribs. They had a good flavor, not great. The potato salad was a little too tangy for my taste. I realized that most of the people didn't go in there for the food so let's look at it as a beer joint. Well we asked for a pitcher of beer, the waitress brought us a 1/3 of one. She said the keg blew and she was waiting for someone to come there and change it because she wasn't going to do it. She charged us for a half of a pitcher. Later we decided to order one more pitcher of a different kind and here she came with another 1/3 of a pitcher that she was going to charge us half for because that keg had also blown. . I told her no, fill it up with something else. They were supposed to have karaoke but that never happened. I could see the kitchen as I walked to the bathroom and all I saw in there was a crockpot. The bartender kind of hinted to the fact that the owner has been taking a lot of trips and not been paying a lot of attention to the bar. She also said they didn't serve food for the Hillyard days so it sounds like she was saying that was just an excuse used on trip one. We won't be going back.
