Fireside - Spring Valley

We made a spontaneous detour and googled for a place to eat so showing up we had no idea what to expect. AMAZING and great service!

Located in a shopping mall, which is not a big deal. We arrived early when they just open. They seated us and of course there was no one there but then after we all sat down the waitress tells us that we can 't stay at this table after 7:30 because it 's reserved for a simcha. WE HAD A RESERVATION AND THE RESTAURANT WAS LITERALLY EMPTY SINCE WE WERE THE FIRST THERE. They could have sat us anywhere. The staff was playing with the lights for what seemed like a good 5 minutes while we were seated. The place was nothing special and looked like an average underwhelming restaurant. I came here with 3 family members and my partner. There was already a bottle of water on the table but we had to ask for cups and when the water was empty we had to ask for more and waited a while to get it. I ordered the 30 day age crusted ribeye to share with my boyfriend, which the waitress recommended and said was amazing. When it arrived it was a rather small piece of steak that was pretty rare (we ordered it medium) and not nearly as flavorful as it should have been (tasted like a regular underwhelming piece of steak). There was no sauce or anything to go with it. The side that came with it was cut up potatoes (farthest thing from truffle potatoes) and cherry tomatoes!!!! Someone please explain how cherry tomatoes just added to the plate make for a seasonal harvest?!?! It looked as bad as it tasted. Potatoes were dry and tasteless. I didn 't bother trying the tomatoes because well who in the world puts cherry tomatoes (no not cooked or seasoned) in with potatoes as a side?!?!? For an $86 dish this was beyond embarrassing. We came for a special occasion and I didn 't want to say anything because I was just too embarrassed. Shame on this place for even serving something so bad and charging so much for it. The service wasn 't anything special and when they came to take the plates away my boyfriend and I were still eating so I said we were not finished (my family finished before we did and they took their plates immediately even though we weren 't done). The person gave me such a dirty look, my family even joked about how rude it was to tell them we were not done since they were very nasty about it. (Btw we stayed for less than an hour so this had nothing to do with rushing us out, although we 're we 're definitely rushed). Overall, this was not a nice experience, food was not good at all and it 's way overpriced. Don 't waste your money going here it is such a disappointment, especially if you have a special event.

We had a lovely time there! It is so nice to have such a fine dining experience right here in Monsey without having to travel to the city. The restaurant is comfortable and classy, nice lighting on the tables and good music piped in at the right volume makes for good ambiance! The service was attentive and pleasant! The menu has a nice selection of interesting dishes and all the food was delicious and tasty and served in a way that is also pleasing to the eye. The food was delicious, our waiter was incredible, really knew the menu and had great suggestions. the food is just a bit overpriced

Slow service. Tiny portions. Limited choices on the menu. Was expecting much more based on their hype. Could be much better if they just tried harder to please their customers A little snooty
