Whitts Barbecue - Springfield

This might be the worst BBQ restaurant I've ever visited. The wings seemed completely waterlogged, likely from boiling. It appears they might put cooked items in hot water to keep them warm, as my wife's bologna also tasted soggy. The cornbread was cold and rubbery, and when I requested a fresh piece, they insisted that what I had was fresh but offered to give me another one that would be just the same. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time dining here.

I'm really uncertain about whether there was something unsavory in my sandwich. I understand that there can be juice in BBQ sandwiches, but this one looked overly gooey and had bubbles in it. I won't be coming back to this location. I placed my order through the drive-thru and only noticed the issues once my son and I arrived at the park down the street. I ended up throwing it away. It was a waste of $7 for nothing.

Today was the first time the wife and I had visited. It will not be the last! Everything was good, but the potato salad, chess pie were the cherry on top!

So I ordered a pulled pork bbq sandwich plate. It came with a couple of spoonfuls of decent baked beans and a small cold bbq sandwich w mayo, slaw, and pork…. Not a drop of bbq anywhere…. NOWHERE was there any bbq sauce AT ALL.

Food is consistently good, as well as the great service. Choices beyond most BBQ restaurants, so don't allow the name deter!!!!!
