Three of us had haddock and chips, the batter on the fish was not golden and crispy, the fish had skin on with stodgy dark batter. Probably had 20 garden peas which were slightly hard. The chips and the tartare sauce were nice. For dessert, the lemon cheesecake was chosen by our friends and neither enjoyed it as it was tasteless. We didn’t complain to the staff because we’d chosen the venue and didn’t want to embarrass our friends. So sad as this pub has always been a great place for lunch….we won’t be going again or recommending it.
Lovely little country pub. Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch with friends. Great food, friendly atmosphere and friendly staff.
A fabulous little pub, never disappointed. Roast today, delicious, loads of veg and crispy roast tatties, lovely local brewed ales and dog friendly. We will return again and again. Support local small buisness
Just returned from Sunday lunch at the pub with our dog in tow. They have two great outdoor areas front and back one more family friendly and one better for couples or adult only groups. On arrival within minutes a water bowl and some treats arrived and once we'd finished them we ordered some more for our dog!! The staff were all excellent and very professional and seemed to genuinely like dogs. Loved the Sunday Roast which was plentiful and beautifully cooked. As an Ale drinker the Farr Brewery pale ale was delicious. This pub is truly a hidden gem and while not the easiest to find I would highly recommend it.
We booked when there was a retirement party in the rear garden. The staff should have advised us of this as they could not cope with the regular customers. Meals arrived at 10 minute intervals . One meal was presented twice. We asked 4 times for a missing side it did not arrive but was added to the bill. If we had been advised that it was busy we might have chosen a sharing platter. If there is a private event then more staff should be employed to cater for regulars.
