Ye Olde Fighting Cocks - St Albans

Solid pub. Great food. Amazing staff. Plus they have loads a screens for the sport. Lovely fireplace too. Can't ask for much more really.

I had a wonderful weekend getaway with my wife. The food and service were outstanding. We would certainly stay here again. One piece of advice: the restrooms near the bar could use an update.

I visited for the first time and was very impressed with the service and warm welcome. Pete and Claudia were especially nice, and the food was excellent. I will definitely be back!

We had a pleasant experience at this pub, especially in the outdoor seating area, which offered a lovely ambiance. However, I’ve rated it 3 stars because I was let down by the haddock and chips. The batter was not crispy, and the fish was overly soft and mushy, suggesting it might have been a low-quality frozen product instead of fresh. Additionally, the service was a bit slow; we had to ask the staff twice before our order was taken.

The ambiance is charming, but the service could be better. I waited at the bar for some time, and while numerous staff walked by, none of them acknowledged me—except for one friendly guy with fluffy, layered hair. Overall, it's a wonderful place to unwind after a long walk with your dog and to enjoy the rich history that this pub offers.
