Contribuisci feedbackThis was my first time at Stokehouse. It was very Iceberg-esque coming from Sydney. It was a great space, nicely fitted out. Great lighting and good vibes. Then the food came, it was super good. I got the Tuna for my starter and I was dissapointed to find out that the sauce it was on had a strong cheese flavour, which I really didn't like. Luckily we were sharing and I got to taste some of the others, the eel pate being a particular winner. Then to the mains. I ordered the market fish, which was super delicious, complimented well by condiments. The delicious sides were also perfect with it. I loved the leeks, grain salad and broccoli. Very impressed. The desserts were definitely a highlight. the Bobe dessert is a must have. It was amazing. Perfectly balanced flavours! The service was probably the biggest downfall, but I think it is important to note that it seemed it was just our waiter, as when others visited they were super nice, helpful, friendly and engaging.Overall a great lunch
Stopped by here and grabbed a small bite in the outside area. It's a good place to relax and people watch. There is a small wood fire place for one table on the outside. I'm sure it was a welcome touch but the fire generated a bit too much smoke. Maybe management could find a cleaner wood to burn. The smell from the fire did add to the atmosphere. We ordered one classic pizza and chicken salad. For outside seating it's self serving. The total came to $34.
It was our first trip back to the rebuilt Stokehouse. It was just as good - the service was excellent and the view on a still cold sunny day was to die for!!. We couldn't fault the food or wine - only negative was the sirloin with no sides was $62 - over the top somewhat.
Service very average. Did not get told about the specials like the table next to us. Had to chase the waitress to give an order, had to chase for water.Food has far too much seafood
I had not been to Stokehouse, although I had heard a lot about it. The location is great -- the picture windows overlooking Port Philip Bay afford a wonderful view. The menu is imaginative and for vegetarians, there is more than just some odds and ends the chef has thrown together. My choice was roast pork belly, the cracking was just right and the belly meat melted in my mouth. We also had some broccoli to share, and a most imaginative leek dish. When we did not order starters, the wait staff considerately brought us some small dishes of humus with a variety of breads. Our main course arrived quire quickly. As one might expect. the wine list is well balanced, with a variety of Australian and overseas wines, including some good French pinot noir. We did not stay for dessert, but it looked inviting. With the warmth of spring just around the corner, bookings can be expected to pick up, so be sure to make an early reservation.
