They make a mean Rueben sandwich and that's where it stops! You walk in and seat yourself, which is fine, the servers are all busy talking with each other while the kitchen yells for them to come get their food (so somebody is waiting forever for cold food) when the place isn't busy at all. Went today with a co-worker and we waited a good 30 minutes to be greeted and given menus. The server got our drink order wrong how do you mess up a water and an iced tea? We ordered chili and 1/2 sandwich combos, each with onions and cheese on the side. She comes out with one order of onions and cheese stating we'd have to share because it was so busy on Sunday that we ran out of cheese Hmmmm, Schnuck's is around the corner telling customers they have to share?! Then waited another 15 minutes for more tea and water, never got the sour cream for my chili. Took another 30 minutes to get our 1/2 corned beef sandwiches on rye cold corned beef, cold bread, no swiss or mustard, no pickles and I ordered 2 Reuben sandwiches to go We had to take the 1/2 sandwiches to go also, because the service was so bad that we were beyond our lunch hour and had to get back to work., Plus, every time Pam came back to table, she was complaining that whatever went wrong, it was always somebody's fault 0- the kitchen, the weather, it was slam busy on Sunday (This is Tuesday etc. Never was it her poor listening skills. Forget saying anything to the owner he's as rude as they come never acknowledging certain repeat customers but doting on others. Spent $70 on lunch today for mediocre (at best) food and lousy service. Wouldn't recommend. Oh and did I mention the already $11 sandwiches pre-COVID are now up to $14 and $15 per sandwich with smaller sides and no extra pickles that they USED to put on the table? Harlan will take it out of his customers' pockets and reduce the value of what is provided. Looking for friendly atmosphere and excellent quality and quantity of food with sweet people who remember your name when you come in? Try Kohn's Deli down the street! Don't waste time or money here!
First off I was going to give them 4 stars because by the time we got their and by the time we got our food it was over an hour. But I gave them 5 stars anyways because…#1 Holly (I think or Heidi) was our server and she was hump busting the whole time and kept our drinks full and was very personable even though she was under stress.#2 The food was amazing. I had the salmon salad!!! So good and healthy. My wife had the Reuben. Best Reuben in STL! We also had the potato pancakes. Delish!!!#3 Family. It’s a family run place. We felt like family when were there and they were obviously short staffed in the back of house. You don’t throw family under the bus when they are down.5 stars and I will go again!!!
After browsing their website. I called to see if they had a way for me to check the balance on the gift card that my guy won at work however the guy was no help. He chuckled and said I would have to come in and assured me that there was no other way. That made 0 sense to me. No other options. Make it make sense please!!!!!! With running my own television show and radio show. I would love to go in . Disappointed!
Excellent breakfast and our server was lovely. Thank you for making a great start to our morning!
