The pizza that comes out of the kitchen is excessively greasy and barely edible. However, what truly makes this establishment terrible is the attitude of the security and management. Both are extremely rude to those waiting outside and to anyone who isn't a patron, only focusing on serving customers inside to get their money. There's frequent harassment from individuals outside the bar, and management and security do nothing to address this behavior. Additionally, they block public sidewalks and the only accessible entrances to the nearby parking garage, refusing to let anyone park unless they go through their cars. If you're looking for an arcade bar, avoid this place. Start Bar does not deserve your money. You’ll have a much better experience at Up Down in the Central West End.
Not worth it.It cost $5 to get in, the games do not work, they do not allow bags OF ANY KIND, and there 's very little arcade game selection. Skip this place. To be specific, one pinball machine paddle wouldn 't work, the walking dead game 'reload ' doesn 't work, the N64 area is roped off...extremely disappointing
Used to love this bar, who couldn 't love a bar with arcade games! Went tonight and they got rid of, no exaggerating, three fourths of there games including there game consoles upstairs. We tried to stay anyway and they didn 't let one of our friends in because of their dress code when we were all dressed the exact same. UpDown is a far better arcade bar if you are in the area!
We came here for the arcade games and some bar food. The games were fun but a lot of them didn't work and that was disappointing. The pizza was actually great and I would have it again. The drinks were tasty and fun. We wish there were more working games and it was a cool place. Staff was nice. Clientele was mixed. Some very high energy and loud, some mellow like my son, myself and my husband. Be willing to hear loud noises.
This establishment is by far the most discriminatory place I've encountered in the St. Louis area. They show a blatant bias against Black individuals, particularly Black men. I was wrongfully accused of causing issues without any proof and subsequently asked to leave.
