I chose the sea bass special in lemon butter. It was overly lemony and looked and tasted odd to me – not at all like sea bass. I only ate half. Later I gave the leftover fish to my friend and asked what he thought. He said it was good but I “should have ordered sea bass”. I hadn’t told him what type of fish it was, and yet he immediately concluded that it wasn’t sea bass, which is our favorite fish. We both order it regularly and definitely know what it looks and tastes like. We both feel that what Carino's served me was in no way sea bass. The real kicker occurred when I asked how much the fish cost. The waiter gave me an evasive answer...”about $39 $49”. He then asked to see my Groupon. I felt like he wasn’t going to decide how much to charge until after he knew how much my Groupon discount was Carino’s offers a variety of discount amounts thru Groupon). When he brought the bill, he charged $45 for the fish and $8.95 for 1 glass of house cabernet. With tax and mandatory 18% tip, the meal was $68.52 $28.52 after subtracting the $40 Groupon). The most I’ve ever previously been charged for sea bass is $34. My advice to others with Groupon, either order items from the printed menu that have a fixed price, or ask the price of the specials before you tell them you have a Groupon discount. I feel I was snookered twice – once on the price and the second on the faux sea bass. I'm a local and won't return.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Treated our party of 17 to appetizers, great cocktails, and wine, large meals including homemade bread and house salads. A hidden gem not to be missed.Vegetarian options: Gnocchi, eggplant, plenty of past options
I never write reviews but this food was so delicious, I felt the need to. The eggplant parm was top 3 I’ve ever had (from NJ it tastes just like home and that’s hard to find here! prices were definitely reasonable $21 for a full dinner including pasta salad and bread. Ordered through Uber eats, food was hot and came wrapped in Saran Wrap so it didn’t spill. 10/10 will definitely order again.
Not normally one to write reviews, but had such a great experience I couldn’t not leave one. We were looking for authentic Italian to have a celebratory dinner and could not be happier. The second you walk in you are greeted with fabulous smells and warm smiles. Our Server, Hamid, was very friendly and greeted us like family. Was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and was great at personalizing suggestions. Then the food, it was authentic and delicious like you are sitting in your Nona’s kitchen. I had the Shrimp FriDiavlo and my boyfriend had the Fillet Special. His steak melted in your mouth, was flavorful and rich and worth every penny. Mine was also near perfect, the sauce spicy but with a lot of depth and flavor with giant shrimp! We left happy and full, with big smiles. Will definitely be back and cannot wait to take visitors there for an amazing meal.
Horrible experience overall. Food was mediocre and over priced in general. Service was awful. Our waiter was extremely inattentive, didn't bring any food out for over an hour. He failed to tell our party about extra hidden charges and attempted to up sell the entire time to the point of us having to tell him no multiple times to end the discussion. After ordering drinks they did not arrive for 30 to 40 minutes at a time... the restaurant was not busy. Last but not least he was not able to provide us our bill for an hour after requesting the check. He then lost our credit card for 20 minutes after getting our bill wrong and having to fix it. The entire experience was miserable. We sat down for dinner at 730 and didn't leave the restaurant until 1130 because of these issues, not because we wanted to be there. Will never be back.
