We went +10x per year, brought friends, wrote glowing reviews sang your praises to anyone who’d listen. Then something changed the food quality became increasingly inconsistent. We gave them multiple chances, giving passes for Covid. Final visit, our tandoori chicken tasted like it was cooked DAYS ago you don’t have to be a PhD Food Scientist to know when meat is old. That was the last straw. We have since found a new spot, we like it very much but not as much as when Gateway was run well. Sad to say goodbye, but you broke our trust. I hope you read this treat future guests (who love you like we did) better.
We decided to pick up some food on our way home from the beach drum circle. The restaurant has a traditional Indian ambiance, complete with lovely fabrics, chandeliers, and intricately carved wooden furniture. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered samosas, two garlic naans, and Butter chicken. The portion sizes were generous and perfect for the two of us. The level of spice was just right, and the tamarind chutney was delightful. Overall, the food was delicious and well worth the price. I even returned to take more photos of the dine-in food presentation.
Where do I begin? Hands down the greatest lamb in St. Pete! As someone who loves to keep biblical sabbath, Kumar (who treats you like pure gold always going above and beyond to make you feel like the definition of special), graciously accommodates my lamb kabob requests. Keeping Gateway to India at the top of my takeout list! The food truly matches the service, too! May God continue to bless this amazing establishment! Thank you so much Kumar! Truly a class act! Amazing naan sides, too!
Pathetic food! Ordered a take out last night. Biriyani tasted like fried rice. Vegetables in veg kadai were all frozen and undercooked. Lasooni Gobi was a joke. There were hardly 4 pieces of Gobi and looked like leftover from someone else's order. I have to admit we ordered at 9 30pm but if you can't make it just say so. No point in serving such bad food.
We recently returned from Gateway to India for a Mother's Day dinner. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal, especially the naan bread. Although the portion sizes were a bit small for the price, we would definitely visit again.
