Poppo's Taqueria - St. Petersburg

If you’ve ever had authentic Mexican food or even a decent Americanized place, this is miles away. The girls working behind the counter were very nice but boy, was this some of the worst “Mexican” food I’ve had in a very long time. Anyone who’s raving about this place in the reviews probably eats white bread and mayonnaise for most of their meal. One of the last places on the list, that aren’t a chain, that I’d bring my friends of fam to eat

1st time inside this restaurant and it will be the last, I came and order a burrito with pork it was almost 16 dollars without a drink and before a tip.The burrito was decent but when you sit inside the establishment and eat they don’t tell you that there AC is nonexistent, half way thru my food I just threw my food away and left a sweaty mess.Also pork was fatty and overcooked and the ice machine doesn’t work this place doesn’t believe in anything cold.

THE best tacos in St Pete's! From the fresh pressed tortilla shells made into chips to the guacamole sauces everything is made to order and 100% fresh! We had the Poppo's tacos on corn tortillas with tempeh and the slaw is exceptional! Tacos not your thing? Try a bowl!

Second time I ordered online and the burrito was cold (I picked it up 2 minutes before the ready time), didn’t have all ingredients, and was significantly smaller than when I order in person. Love their food but ordering to go is inconsistent at best.

I typically dine at the one in AMI or Bradenton, but due to timing, we opted for this location. We arrived right when they opened at 11 AM, and the staff was already busy preparing. The corn tortillas were fantastic. We each tried a variety of the Poppo tacos. The cabbage and chimi aioli is a must-try! My personal favorite was the carne asada.
