Braxton's On Talbot - St. Thomas

I have ordered from this restaurant about 15 times over the past 2 years and dined in about 5-6 times before covid. The results have always been consistent. They offer fast delivery and have a friendly staff who are helpful with orders. I have had a great experience dining in as well. Overall, I can't go wrong with this place.

Went to Braxton’s for dinner tonight to see what the new menu is all about. This was our first visit since the new owners took over and perhaps our expectations were too high. Both my husband and I were very disappointed. I had the Cashew...Skillet Stir-fry with chicken and noodles. The noodles were all stuck together and not cooked, not what I had expected at all. The broccoli was not cooked and the remainder of the vegetables were over cooked, mushy and so heavily sauced with teriyaki sauce you could not tell onions from peppers. There were quite a few cashew pieces but again they were swimming in this salty sauce, strong sauce. I have had this particular dish several times before and always enjoyed it but not this time. Since I was starving I ate most of it. My husband had the grilled chicken wrap. The chicken was cold and he didn’t care for the combination at all. He said it was not a great wrap. His fries were not hot. Need,ex’s to say we won’t be back anytime soon.

Well, in the past I have told of a ladies get together when the entire restaurant is available to ladies that have purchased a ticket in advance. The menu was preplanned. The event did not seem very nice this year. I have spoken to many ladies and we really didn't enjoy the food at all. There was a buffet with soup, which was a squash and I didn't care for the sweet cinnamon flavour. There were two salads, they were ok. The main meal was terrible, a chicken with a tasteless glaze and some sort of total mushy stew. The desserts were pretty good, but I'm sure they were purchased in pre-made containers and sliced up. The restaurant was very noisy.

Ordered a steak dinner as I was treating myself for Thanksgiving. Beans were hot and delicious, steak not medium rare as requested and lukewarm but flavour ok, baked potato cold and didn't even melt the butter they put on it never mind the extra I added. Waitress offered to microwave the potato but I turned that down because I didn't have time for them to get a baked potato right. And, to my way of thinking, why wasn't it hot in the first place? Why do I have to eat my dinner piecemeal? Apparently they think that should make me happy. I didn't have time for them to correct the situation and ate most of it cold but still paid full price. I won't go back nor will I bring any friends there! So disappointed because it used to be so good!

Under new ownership we decided to give Braxtons a try. Not much has changed inside. Warm welcome and we were seated quickly. 2 people had fish and chip special which was tasty. One had the steak and said it was ok. I had the jumbalia...and it was awesome! Very tasty with a little heat! Reasonable and the service was good. Not to busy at 530 pm but it was picking up as we left.
