I think I know where the earlier poor reviews have come from... we visited this cafe twice on our holiday the first time a lady was serving and she seemed pretty fed up but the second time it was a chap who was really friendly. So I guess it's pot luck what kind of service you have. This aside we thought the food was really good, lovely slabs of tasty and unusual cakes, nice cosy atmosphere inside with wood burning stove, for sunny days there are benches out front or back, both with superb views. I would definitely recommend a stop here if you're in the area.
Website says open at 8, made the effort to get there at 8 but closed. Gave up at eight thirty and went somewhere else. Tried again later in the week and it was open but staff were disinterested and pig-ignorant. Left without eating so can’t comment on the food. If you don’t like dealing with the public don’t run a cafe.
Well, very disappointed with the owner. I took 10 cyclists to visit and we all spent over £10. The first meal that was ordered came, and they brought 2 bacon, sausage and egg baps when my friend only order 1. The group laughed a-bit and said to the server it’s ok to leave it (but she took it away). The friend who ordered it said I thought it was expensive,… that was because they charged for 2. Then the owner came from behind the counter, and not said, but shouted in front of other customers, “Why didn’t you say something when you paid for it, I’ve cook the food to order”. I said sorry what did you say. He replied “I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to him” and pointed to my friend, not only being obstinate with one customer, but extremely rude to myself. To be honest I take regular groups, and this is the first time we’ve every encounter such a rude and unapologetic cafe owner. As mentioned we probably spent over £100 and not only was I embarrassed but insulted. We shall not be spending money in this cafe, even though the sausage and egg butty looked good. I wouldn’t however recommend the soggy feta and spinach pasty as it was microwaved.
The worst rude experience I've ever had in a cafe. The woman were so unhelpfull and rude. The atmosphere was horrendous. PLEASE Dont even try it....
