Cakes, cookies and other treats may look pretty but the taste is not what it used to be. Not only that but its customer service is trash. The first time I just thought it was a bad day, now this is the 4th time someone at the front has been rude. Not only with tone but with choice of word too. They give missed information on the phone and when you show up it’s a hassle. I will no longer recommend this bakery to anyone nor ordering from it again. The loving sweet family oriented business that it once was no longer exists.
This is good for CT, but it does not rival any bakery in the Bronx or Arthur Avenue. I think the reason it gets rave reviews is that it is good relative to the other nonexistent Italian bakeries in the area. The cookies and pastries are okay. The cakes are delicious. However the customer service is awful. The people who work there clearly dislike their jobs and are incredibly unhelpful and rude. I know several people who now refuse to go there because they are so rude- and after my brief experience today, I am now one of them.
Melt and mineral oil in the frost and fill! they do not use real butter anymore, very disappointed!
If they were an old person and how traditional old “Italian” bakeries, then this is for them. If they like cakes that do not taste like box mix, this is probably not for them. that tastes like box mix 100%, although they claim that they are made from scratch.
You know, DiMare's used to be a rival bakery pastries used to be out of this world, as well as their cakes. But I've ordered from them the last 3 times and I've been so disappointed. The cherry on top was today, Jan 6th, for King's Day. I called in at 9:40am, to see if they had any King's Day cakes. I had told them it was not pre ordered but if they had any available to sell for the occasion and was told yes by the girl on the phone. I asked if they by any chance had any that were gluten free, and although they didn't, I wasn't too upset bc oh well, that's on me right. I let her know we would be by later to pick one up. My niece went to go get the cake and was told no, that they couldn't sell it to her bc it wasn't preordered. I'm beyond disappointed with them.
