Had this place saved in my collection to try. Made my first ever visit to Rodeo 39 and I have to say, I think I should have tried something else out. Maybe I went on a bad day, but the service wasn't on point and the food didnt live up to my thoughts and desires. This isn't to say it was bad, but it left me hanging.Chicken Longanisa: The cured ground patty was actually decent, probably the only decent part of the meal. The rice was trash and did not mix well. The scallions and radishes did nothing to assist, but I still appreciated their presence.Karaage Fried Chicken (with garlic sauce): I thought fried chicken would have a crispy exterior and a flavorful/juicy meat interior. This had a mushy consistency, I felt terrible eating it, but did not want to see my money tossed.Let it be known, I had originally asked about a couple other plates and the employee working said they dont have any more of those selections. A woman ordered after me, found a seat, and the same employee went running over saying they dont have the meat for her plate either, so she had to re-order. A bit of a let down considering this was a weekday lunch meal. Set the pace for a depressing dinner rush.
This is in rodeo 39. We got the pork belly adobo (needed more sauce) but was satisfying. We also got the pork lumpia and I recommend getting at least 6 for two people.
1st time here. Pretty good. Large serving of food. I tried the Chicken curry adobo bowl and Dynamite fries. 1st..the bowl was huge. Stuffed with chickrn, rice and curry sauce. In terms of sharing..10/10. In terms of taste 7/10. The meat was thigh meat which I am not a fan of. The taste was good though, and the size was great. The sweet potato dynamite fries need a lot of help. There was an ample amount, but 7.50 for fries...I expected some really loaded fries. There was a sliver if cilantro, a teaspoon of sauce and maybe 4 garlic cloves. I asked for more sauce and it was an upcharge. The guy took a picture of my fries and gave me the sauce free??? WtH??? Anyway...worth a try if at Rodeo 39.
The rice was super mushy and soggy. It was definitely cooked with way too much water. My friend got the pork belly with umami gravy, which I tasted. The gravy was very bland and tasteless, and paired with the mushy rice, it made the meal even more soft and mushy. It lacked texture. I am hoping it was just a bad batch of rice where they accidentally put too much water in the rice cooker.I got the fried chicken Adobo with rice and it was fantastic. I really like how they fried the chicken without using too heavy of a batter and the sauce was flavorful.
