El Jalapeno Mexican - Statesboro

I absolutely love this restaurant! Our waiter, Sam, was hilarious, incredibly friendly, and remarkably attentive. Everyone in our group agreed on how kind he was. I really appreciate this place, especially how quickly the food is served!

When we went to pick up our food, they had to remake it because it had been accidentally given to someone else. They kindly offered us a gift card as an apology, which was a nice gesture. However, it took an additional 20 minutes to prepare our food again. The nachos were not made correctly and were overly greasy from the beef at the bottom. On the bright side, the other dishes were good.

This restaurant was a surprising gem. We had been directed to another spot that was quite crowded, so we opted for El Jalapeño instead, and we were really pleased with our choice. The food was excellent, and the service was exceptional. With my son just starting his freshman year at GSU, we will definitely be returning.

The food is fantastic, but it seems they are understaffed and overstressed. I had no clear instructions on where to pay. When I took my ticket to the counter, I was informed that next time I should pay at the table. The staff member's tone was a bit off-putting. A little training could make a big difference, especially if they want to encourage customers to come back.

Nykera was the best waitress we've ever had! She provided excellent and friendly service, even on a busy Friday night. If you visit, be sure to ask for her—you won't be disappointed!
