The Waitress was wonderful and full of smiles. The food was pretty good and my Fishcakes were ok. (not as good as my wife can do but good :) ) The prices were fair so all in all a fine meal.
Want great food at a reasonable price. Hartery's provides a variety of meals to satisfy the whole family. All at a reasonable price.
I go here often to eat. At one point it was excellent every time. Lately it hasn't been the best. Not sure if they got a new cook but it has gone downhill. The burgers (which I usually get) have been really tough and dry lately. The chicken burger is not real chicken breast but rather the cheap, frozen kind you buy at grocery stores. Paying $2 extra just to get white meat on a hot turkey is nuts. Plus they cut off the crust so your missing a good portion of the sandwich. A hotel down the road serves a better sandwich for much much cheaper and you don't pay extra for white meat. Plus they also give you dressing with it while Harterys wants $2 just for a little dressing. So if you want a hot turkey with white meat and dressing expect to pay about $18 (with a good portion of it missing since they cut the crust off. And a good deal of the sandwich missing since they aren't neat about it). At Days Inn you get a full hot turkey with all white meat and dressing for about $12. Get some home fries, the frozen ones taste freezer burnt. Update your menu because the poutine isn't served with curds (like it's supposed to be and like the menu even suggests it is). Tell your waitresses to stop "asking for a tip". The same older lady asks me if I'm giving her a tip every time I'm in here. It's rude and unwelcoming when you ask for a tip. Especially when you don't even come around to fill drinks. Seafood platter. Too much grease. I ate this and my plate had a pool of grease.
Recently renovated this is a family restaurant that offers good basic service. Food is not high maintenance. The type of place if you like a "hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes with peas and carrots on the side" Or "French fries with gravy"...I personally don't like having loud music or the Television on when I eat...So this was a turn off for me. When I go out I like to sit and talk with the person I'm sitting with...not yell over the radio or tv.Hartery's had the potential to be a meeting place in some respect. Where locals who enjoy seeing each other and can say hi as they sit down...It has a small town feeling which is nice..minus the radio/tv noise.Service is prompt and waitress very nice. The place is clean.
We've had breakfast here a few times. Most times it's been good, not excellent but good. This time the hash browns were burnt and so was the toast. We were in a hurry so we didn't send it back. The service is good but the food prep seems to be inconsistent.
