The Cuban spin is a wonderful fresh nuance to the coffee spot experience, the coffee mix is top notch Cuban smoky/syrupy sweet, the flan was as good as my yaya's, and the bar drinks look like my next treat. Can't wait to come back!
Nice little spot for some good coffee and food. There's a good amount of seating. Part of the seating is outdoor seating that's covered with space heaters so could be a little chilly. Overall was a nice place.
Cocktails are worth a try during HH 4-7PM(M-F). Hotel Nacional is strong but good, Mojito is too sweet for my taste. Spinach empanada is good, others can be skipped. Cafe con loche can be too sweet for some.
This fantastic Cuban café is located in a rapidly developing neighborhood. The food, atmosphere, and drinks are all excellent. I highly recommend the Colada Shop Cuban Sandwich—it’s absolutely delicious! I also tried two drinks: the Hotel Nacional, which is a must-try, and the Babalu, which was a bit too tangy for my liking. The empanadas were delightful, while the pasteltos were just okay.
I was really excited to try this place after reading Tom Sietsema's review. It's a very casual spot—there's no table service, but it's a fantastic summer venue with plenty of lovely covered outdoor seating. I'm not sure how the atmosphere will feel when the weather gets cooler. The prices are fantastic (especially during happy hour!), and the drinks are enjoyable and generously strong. I was looking forward to the Cubanos; they're good, but they don't quite measure up to authentic Cuban food. I definitely recommend the Empanadas!
