I had sausage egg and chips, all cooked fresh. Sausages were Cumberland sausages of excellent quality, lovely...fresh chips and eggs cooked well just to my liking. I recommend this coffee shop and restaurant
Friendly , high quality staff , lovely hot and tasty food at a reasonable price , the atmosphere is welcoming , the service was both quick and impeccable , and the rest rooms spotless ! Well worth a visit !
Returning to the Ibis after many years I was delighted that the breakfast buffet still included the best baguettes I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. Fresh and crisp on the outside but nice and soft on the inside. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet...very much and was pleased to find a fresh fruit salad that did not contain oranges as I am allergic to them. The fresh fruit, yoghurts, baguettes, pastries and cereals is my kind of breakfast. There were also cheeses, cold meats and cooked food available too. My mother at last found scrambled eggs that were cooked to her liking, which is not always easy. We are both disabled and the staff were so helpful, offering to bring our food and drink choices to us if we made them aware of what we wished. A light and airy restaurant which was clean and welcoming. Plenty of choices for everyone.
Today my retired parents and their friends attended a 'Christmas lunch ' at the Ibis hotel Stevenage. After having a pleasant experience last year they decided to return even though the price had increased significantly. Last year the dinner was held in the restaurant and them...and their friends were the only people on their table, the food was good and generous and a good time was had. This year the Ibis are clearly trying to recoup money for the work that went into their function room which was recently refurbished... 1) Upon arriving today my parents and their friends (another couple) were seated on a table with eight strangers. This is where their 'wonderful ' experience began... 2) They eventually received their starter of soup, which was tepid after being stirred to redistribute the heat. 3) They then waited 20 mins after the soup was finished for the main course to come out. 4) The first part of the main course to come out was the veg and potatoes, the turkey, mini Yorkshire pud and bulletproof stuffing ball followed 20 minutes later (there 's a 20 min theme), by which time the veg and potatoes were cold, after requesting these be reheated vaguely warm veg and potatoes were brought back....you guessed it 20 minutes later. At which point the turkey etc was cold, my parents had started to give up at this point. 5) To top this all off there was not enough veg etc to go round and my parents got no gravy at all. 6) When my father complained he was told it wasn 't their fault as the food was brought in...from where?!? The North Pole?? Or maybe Iceland (the one next door not the country). 7) And to add insult to injury the manager disappeared when people started to complain. Terrible, terrible experience...there were a number of complaints but no offer of a refund to anyone. I 've made an official complaint on their behalf! In the meantime don 't book it and if you have cancel immediately and get a refund.
This hotel is in the centre of the new town, the old town is far more interesting in the evenings, but a 10 minute or so walk away. The hotel is a purpose built modern typical of the Ibis group. All of the...staff were friendly, efficient helpful. The rooms are very clean again are well equipped to normal Ibis standards (tea, coffee, hair dryer etc in room). The evening meal I had was not the best I was unfortunate to hit breakfast just before they bought out more fresh cooked food, so not over impressed with the catering.
