Three had the roast lamb and I had the four meat roast we all found the lamb was full of fat and gristle some I had I had to remove from my mouth because I couldn't chew it I also found the beef and pork were a poor quality although the chicken seemed ok. I complained to the waitress she said she would mention it to the chef but we got no feedback or a reduction in the bill so I'm definitely not recommending any to try this restaurant
Had a fabulous birthday lunch today with my husband 9 year-old son. The roast dinners (vegetarian meat) were exceptional with every element on the plate beautifully cooked really delicious. Happy dog came with us. Exceptionally helpful friendly staff. Highly recommended
The meal was fantastic and I could not find any faults with the food or service. It was an exceptional dining experience with a great atmosphere!
We had been looking for a local to us pub for a Friday lunch and came across this one…the food was very good indeed…we both had Steak and Mushroom pie, mash, carrots and broccoli…all of which was perfectly cooked and the pastry on the pie was done to perfection…the service was very friendly and we would highly recommend a visit!
Today we discovered that the Rising Sun has updated their menu. We inquired about the vegan options and were told that we could try the "Vegan Chicken Tenders" in a baguette with chips and side salad, or as a salad, or in a burger bun (although they had run out of burger buns). We decided to order two VCT salads and two portions of garlic bread. When our meal arrived, it resembled more of a Caesar Salad, but after removing the non-vegan ingredients, it was basically just lettuce with a splash of dressing. We found the presentation to be unappetizing and at a price of £14.50 each, we felt the meals were overpriced. We requested some additional salad ingredients such as tomatoes, cucumber, and peppers to make it more of a salad. To our surprise, we were given a small bowl of tomato and cucumber, as well as a "Salsa" mix of diced tomato, cucumber, and red onion, at no extra charge. When I questioned the cost of the salads upon payment, I was told that "vegan food is expensive to purchase". However, we were given a £7 discount on our bill for the two garlic breads. Despite our love for this pub, mainly for the friendly regular staff, cozy ambiance with fires and candles in the winter, and great local walks, we may only visit in the future for drinks.
