I’ve been going there for many years for their Christmas wreath making workshops and last week my husband and I had our evening wedding reception there. We rented both cottages and the Shepherds Hut for 4 nights. The accommodation is beautiful; super clean, pretty, spacious and very comfortable. Every little detail has been thought of. The Shepherds Hut is so lovely, everything you want and more. My bridesmaids and I stayed the day before the wedding and made use of the lovely swimming pool. All of our guests commented on the magical venue, food and service. There is not one thing I would change about our wedding day and I just wish I could do it all again there. Les, Louise and the team are the loveliest of people and I would highly recommend everything about Artisan Bakehouse. Go and stay there, you will not regret it x
The Introduction to Bread Making course is a wonderful experience in a beautiful location that I'd recommend to everyone. Les has that exceptional talent of being able to pass on his knowledge and explain the science of breadmaking in ways that are easy to understand. The course is paced to suit the learners on that day, and is lots of fun as well as very informative. You leave with 4 different types of bread that you have created yourself and the results are delicious! Detailed instructions to take away mean the breads can be easily recreated at home after the course. Aside from the teaching, the hospitality is second to none and the homemade lunch and refreshments are excellent, so the whole experience is perfect.
Chocolate Masterclass At The Artisan Bakehouse Nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside lies The Artisan Bakehouse, a real hidden gem. The beautiful setting is a foretaste of what’s to come. On entering this haven of calm Louise and her team are waiting with warm welcomes to greet you. Throughout the day they provided an array of sublime cakes and refreshments. As for lunch made that morning with fresh ingredients accompanied by their own homemade sourdough bread and followed by apple crumble, it was simply delicious! The generosity of the portions matched the generosity of the spirit you find here; which is what I think sets them apart. Having never attempted anything with chocolate before I needn’t have worried. Mike Noble is not only an amazingly skilled chocolatier he’s also passionate about sharing his love and knowledge with you. He does so in such a way that makes it easy to understand; whether a total novice or someone with more experience it was just so enjoyable. By creating a relaxed atmosphere where he’s on hand all the time to help you never feel out of your depth. I never imagined being able to learn so much in one session; how to make ganache, temper chocolate, hand roll truffles, produce creme caramel truffles and decorate solid chocolate tablets. Yet by the end of the day I had boxes of all these exquisite chocolates gorgeously packaged to take home with me. I didn’t want the day to end. The sense of achievement was immense and the finish really professional. It’s Mikes generosity in everything not just his ingredients and chocolates but of himself and what he want you to feel that stood out for me. I cannot recommend this experience or thank him enough.
Fantastic weekend away staying in the Baker’s Hut. The owners made us feel so welcome, there’s the endless Sussex countryside to explore, and the hut has everything a couple needs for a getaway. Would highly recommend a visit.
