We had never had Riesling soup before so I’m not sure Allen Post’s was traditional but it was truly wonderful! I would go back many times just for that. The atmosphere is quaint, the service was very professional and friendly and the food was very...nice.
The restaurant is located in the beautiful old town, is one of the oldest in st gallen, popular with local and tourist alike. it is also one of the few restaurants to be open on Sunday, which is very convenient. the historical dining room is quite... laborious, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. friendly and efficient service. the menu is short with focus on Swiss traditional specialties. as starter I chose the sprinkleing suppe, which refined with st gallen cheese and tasty. as the main course, the homemade ““hackbread” (meat lamb) tasted very good. as dessert, I pampered with a refreshing ice cream. the bill remains at the usual Swiss level.
We stumbled over this place and we are glad that we did. my German is poor and they have spoken little English, but we have done it. we were worried that it would be a tourist trap in the face of the central location, but we had a wonderful meal and...big service. excellent wine selection and very friendly staff.
We went to this restaurant with friends on cold rain night. we had the best table near the window with a romantic candle and atmosphere. the restaurant has been completely booked and no surprise! hackbraten, rösti, best riesling suppe and sprawled were simply incredible. delicious and very well served. the waiter did not leave us alone and we had a full attention and a great service. the wine book is full of dishonest tasty weeping. great partitur and thanks to the cook for the great food!
