The food was okay, the flavours did not wow me.<br/ We had beef , chicken, mussel pots, snoek and then koeksisters and coffee for dessert.<br/ <br/ The vibe of the place was the seller here for me. I think you go here more for the experience as a whole.
The Kaya Beach in Grootfontein is a two minute drive from the farm, and a combination of the fact that its a beach-themed restaurant and the fact that it is ALWAYS full caught my attention some months ago. <br/ <br/ So, after booking, I realised that they really weren 't kidding when they said that this was a feast for only R220 per person. I love the concept of packing up a coolerbox of drinks on a sunny afternoon, putting on some flip flops and shorts and just kicking back. They have both an 'afternoon ' and 'evening ' session that end at 3pm and 11pm respectively so don 't expect a quick meal!<br/ <br/ Onto the food: This is not a spot for anyone on a diet but the value-for-money is incredible. From their creamy mussel soup and homemade bread to their rich chicken and beef potjies... You are bound to leave happy and full. I must add in here that although I am not a huge snoek fan, there are more than enough options to please most tastes. <br/ <br/ *Recommendation: This affordable restaurant is an afternoon (or evening) affair so make sure you have plenty of space to get your moneys worth, a big group of friends to enjoy the experience with and allow for plenty of time! I would even go so far as to adding a fun dress-up theme! This is a great day out with friends!
Lovely and vibrant beach setup. Perfect for hosting parties or just having a great time with a group of friends or with the kids.We enjoyed a nicely done 6 course seafood meal started off by a deliciously creamy mussel soup and ended off with a choice of koeksisters and coffee or some cooling watermelon and sangrias. You get to bring your own beverages and listen to great sounds played by the DJ in the background. I enjoyed myself and the service was really good. We were well attended to.
