I didn't expect much, but it was great. the rooms were clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful and even when I arrived later in the evening, I could just park. the bar on the top floor is beautiful and feels very welcoming. the breakfast staff we were friendly, and actually had a smile of their faces. it was a really pleasant stay. only 4 stars, as the milk was rubbed in the plastic pots.
It's the little things that let it down. The hotel is a beautiful old school and quirky. The staff are great and good food. However. The rooms have wee issues that would take a handy person 10 minutes to sort out such as missing light bulbs, damaged bathroom fittings, no remote control for the TV, replenishing the room tea and coffee each morning. Nothing to get upset about but certainly costing a few stars in a review.
My wife and I went to Stirling Highland Hotel after visiting Stirling Gin. We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea. Despite the restaurant being busy with Christmas parties, we received excellent service. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. I highly recommend a visit to Stirling Highland Hotel and we will definitely be returning.
We went to the restaurant for a Birthday Afternoon Tea, bringing a friend who uses a wheelchair. My husband parked in a disabled bay but we were surprised to receive a £60 charge from a Private Parking company at the hotel. The issue was not where we parked, but that we did not register our car at reception. Unfortunately, we did not see the signs or receive any information about the parking rules. We have learned the hard way that failure to register your car results in a fine, regardless of your circumstances. The manager acknowledged that the staff should have informed us about this, but the hotel group has refused to offer any compensation. We ended up paying the fine to avoid further costs. It was a disappointing conclusion to what was otherwise a nice day, and a disappointing decision from a well-known hotel chain.
I was gifted a voucher for my 30th birthday to enjoy afternoon tea at this restaurant. As someone with a gluten intolerance, I was happy to see that they cater to gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan diets. I made a reservation well in advance and informed them of my dietary restrictions when booking. However, when my afternoon tea arrived, I was disappointed to find only 4 sandwiches (two egg and two avocado and lettuce), a small fruit salad, a scoop of sorbet, and an unappetizing cold custard. It felt more like a selection of random desserts rather than a traditional afternoon tea. In contrast, my mother received a variety of cakes, scones, cheesecake, and pastries. I felt that not enough consideration was given to my dietary needs, especially when there are so many delicious gluten free options available such as macaroons, meringues, and florentines. This experience was embarrassing and I will not be returning to dine here again.
