Jaipur Tandoori - Stockton-on-Tees

My husband and I visited Jaipur last Saturday night and found the food to be delicious. However, we were disappointed to see that they were extremely understaffed. There was only one man managing both the front of house and serving food. As a result, our food took a bit longer to arrive, but luckily we had brought plenty of drinks to keep us occupied. I ordered a lamb kebab and mixed Dhansak, both of which were excellent. We were pleased to learn that we could bring our own drinks, so we brought some of our favorite wine, saving us about £20. My wife particularly enjoyed the chicken pakoras, which she described as outstanding. Overall, we would rate the food 9/10 and the service 6/10.

This was my first visit to the Jaipur and I'm certain it won't be my last. Both food and service were second to none. As previous reviewers have stated, this is the old Royal Bengal which after many excellent years had gone steadily down hill and eventually closed. Now, under a new name and new management, the restaurant has a fresh feel and appearance and the chef that cooked our meals last night certainly knows what he's doing. I wish the guys all the best in their new venture and look forward to my next visit.

I had made a reservation and was greeted by the owner upon arrival. We were seated promptly, although the service was a bit slow. However, we were given an extra, very fresh popadom which made up for it. The wines and lagers were reasonably priced. The food was delicious, with the lamb being particularly tender and tasty. Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit and I will definitely be returning.

My family and I visited here last night. You could tell by the demeanour of the waiter he didn't want children in the place. They don't have a children's menu, we asked if they would do a small children's portion but we were told no. We should really of walked out and gone somewhere more friendly but we stayed. The food was OK although I suffered most of the night. We thought it was expensive and not really that good.

I don't have enough words to describe how gorgeous our food was tonight. lovely service and a really good experience all round!
