The Angel Inn, Stoke-by-nayland

We had dinner and stayed one night. The food was outstanding. The rooms decor was to a high standard as was the cleanliness. Considering the excellent food it was good value. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 3 Hotel highlights: Luxury

We stayed at the Angel Inn for our 1st wedding anniversary, we had read good things, but we were genuinely bowled over by how great out experience was. Everything was superb, but the food and wine in particular were astonishing! While staying we had the Full tasting menu, but for pescatarians, with wine pairings. From the Amuse bouche all the way through to the petite fours at the end, the whole menu was perfectly balanced. Particular highlights were the pistachio cake with poached apricot and curry milk, it really blew our minds. The service was excellent throughout and the time the staff took to explain the dishes and the wine pairings (particularly a last minute wine substitution that was phenomenal), all made for a lovely meal and an excellent anniversary getaway. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Angel. What a find! Loved every minute of our stay. The staff were so attentive on arrival, our room was gorgeous, lovely touches such as air conditioning and under floor heating in the bathroom were appreciated, as well as the huge shower. We enjoyed our glasses of cava on arrival and relaxed in the bar having selected a couple of glasses of wine from the impressive wine list. we had booked the full tasting menu for our stay and decided to add the wine pairing as well. Oh man the food was incredible, beautiful presented, served so well by the staff, the passion and love that had gone into every single plate of food just came through The staff were so attentive and it was obvious to us that they thoroughly enjoyed their roles, nothing was too much trouble Each course was a different taste sensation and complimented so well with the selected wines. There is a strong spanish influence to the food and wines that we thoroughly enjoyed. The building itself is stunning, beautiful exposed brick and timber but so warm and welcoming, with a beautiful enclosed courtyard garden that unfortunately we were not able to enjoy due to the weather. Breakfast was delicious but i have to admit i was full from dinner so will book a later breakfast for our next stay. Really can't say enough about how lovely our stay was, highly recommend and i am looking forward to a return trip in the not too distant future.

Had a light meal in the courtyard, so this review is of the dining experience and NOT the room experience. I stopped by on a really hot day and was after a healthy snack to get me going again on my bike ride. The team was very resourceful in whisking up a bespoke refreshing iced green tea and lemon. The ham croquettes also tasted great. Light crunchy shel giving way to a delicate core. Great experience overall. The courtyard is also beautiful to have a relaxed dining experience.
