Got there and was told 30 minute wait, 2 hours later was told almost….then maybe 2 minutes before ready to seat us we were told they were out of prime ? and a potato choice and soup! 1. Don’t tell people 30 minutes if not sure 2. Offer complimentary drink if someone is willing to wait that long 3. Ok Valentines weekend is not a holiday but wouldn’t you plan for a few extra and not run out? 4. At any time could have put other tables together to accommodate a larger group and not just have 2 tables for that! Or ask if group is willing to sit at separate tables, rather than serving smaller groups that came in after ours! We’ve been there before for fish fry and yes, food is awesome, as I’m sure the prime rib would have been, and the food we did get was good, but being made to feel like “chopped liver” we’ll probably never come back.
I completely agree with what others have said—this is undoubtedly the best fish fry in a wide area, with fantastic food and delicious fried chicken. However, I must implore you to consider expanding the restaurant! Every time I visit, I find myself waiting over an hour, and it’s really frustrating. It would be so simple to add more seating outside or even to create an additional space indoors, as the wait time is truly unbearable.
Absolutely the best Friday Night Fish Fry I've ever experienced! It's an all-you-can-eat, family-style feast that includes Fried Chicken, Fry Bread, French Fries or Baked Potato, and Cole Slaw. They whip up amazing Old Fashioneds and offer a wide selection of beers if you want something different from the complimentary glass of wine that comes with your meal. Be cautious with the fry bread—it’s incredibly fresh and generously dusted with powdered sugar, so you might fill up on that before the fish even arrives. And the fish? It’s not cod, but delicious, flaky WALLEYE! I would return just for the fried chicken, but everything is absolutely top-notch. Enjoy it, and good luck trying to leave feeling hungry!
I've visited this restaurant about five times for their Friday night fish fry and a couple of times on Sundays. It's definitely my favorite spot in the area, and the 30-minute drive from my home is absolutely worth it. As soon as I walk in, the atmosphere, along with the self-service bar featuring a great selection of specialty cocktails, reminds me of the movie *The Great Outdoors*. I half-expect to see the late John Candy and his zany brother-in-law Dan Aykroyd around. The place perfectly captures the charm of being "Up North" that we all love. And then there's the all-you-can-eat fish, chicken, fries, and delightful little fried biscuits, plus complimentary sweet wine. The service is consistently friendly, quick, and efficient. I truly love this place. I can't wait to go back!
Food and service was great. However, if you reorder ONE of anything you cannot take any leftover food home. They will throw ALL of it away instead of letting you take the food you pay for. I understand if you order a whole other basket but we ordered 2 specific pieces of chicken since there wasn't enough for everyone we had in our party. The server said that she will lose her job if she gives to go baskets, so unreasonable and ridiculous. Such a disappointment and so wasteful. We will not be back.
