We had the Asada tacos and Lengua tacos Both were excellent. Plenty of onions and cilantro and the meat was phenomenal. Ice cold Mexican cokes to wash it down were the perfect compliment. And did I mention how clean it was? I appreciate a clean restaurant and this place was definitely on point. Bought some caramel empanadas to go and they were amazing. And yes I bought an additional 10 tacos to go. They were so so good.
Cheaper and quicker than the adjacent Taquitos West Ave but this fella is only here from 4pm 10pm on weekdays, little longer on
He recommended the very delicious tripa taquitos, from the time I have here in San Antonio it is the place I liked the
I don’t know why I haven’t written a review on them. I like to try new places but there are a few places I keep going to when I want “comfort” type food. I didn’t grow up eating Mexican or Tex Mex food so I’m no expert. However I know what I like. My friends who are native to San Antonio recommended this place. They warned me that it’s obnoxiously loud, bright and hot. I was thinking to my self. Hmmm you’re selling it. Not. When we got there, the parking lot was small but found parking on the side road. The line to order was out the door. There was loud Mexican music playing. I mean loud. I couldn’t really hear what my friends were saying. The led lights were bright. There is seating inside or outside. They have a simple menu and the food seems simple, but it’s packed with flavor. Add the roasted jalapeños and onions with radish and cucumber. Yum! It’s not a taco with western twist or seasoning or sauces. In all my travels around the world, I found the best meals have the simplest ingredients. This is true here. I’ve tried everything on their short menu. I love them all. I grew up eating food that we grew or caught and we ate just about every part of the “food.” I like that they have cheeks, tongue and intestines on the menu. They have pastor on only 3 or 4 days a week so when I go there on Friday I order that. My favorite is crispy Tripas. Do not order it to go. Eat it there. If you have to take it home, ask to put the tripas separate from the tortilla and sides. Heat it up in a pan so it stays crispy. I’ve tried tripas at other restaurants but this place has the best. The red sauce was spicy. The green sauce was less spicy. Definitely ask for onions and jalapeño especially if you like spicy. I can’t speak Spanish but I understand it. I was able to order without any issues. They were friendly, accurate and fast! Order your food, sit down and pay on your way out at the register. If you want a drink, someone will come to your table and get your drink for you. I’m sure you can pay before you sit but I’ve never done that. I highly recommend this place. Just go!
Friendly folks, tasty food, awesome green salsa, great prices, and open late. This is my go-to taco truck when I'm in this area now. Give em a try, you won't be disappointed.
