Sat for the Friday night live band. singers and musicians were amazing. the food was good. space is small.
As a woman of color it hurts me to write a bad review for a black restaurant, but this place was terrible. I was out with my hubby for a little date night and thought we were looking for a new place. wrong movement. When we came in, we were greeted by the stintch of an acid mop. it took a while until the hostess greeted us so that we stood there as a waitress who did not recognize us went through the headline to the level above. After we finally sat, our waitress was not familiar with the menu and could not confirm how much wing they get with a combo dinner, but she was very sweet and personal. their personality was the highlight of the evening, because eating was terrible. the corn leaf was tasteless and dry. it needed the zimtbutter for which they have to pay extra. the wings were not crispy and were boiled in old fat, it had the old fat taste and was covered in the black droplets from the old fat. the greens were ok. mac and cheese had no taste and some pieces of sweetness yams were tasteful and others were not. I ordered a peach margarita, but received a regular margarita. it was well done, although it is not what I ordered. my man ordered a gray geese with pineapple juice, but got a concoction of sodawater, pineapple juice without wodka. nice that we tried it, but we will not return.
Eating is delicious, but they don't give them a good amount of meat. we ordered the 3 plate combination that hardly fed my man. I feel if they order a plate for near $30.00 it should be more than small tiny tiny portion meats. the sides are a good deal. I love the fact that they have kept on Saturday. I would recommend this place for the taste of the food, but if they were looking for more to eat, they won't go.
The jerk chicken was very good. I had some of my husband bbq ribs and it was delicious but my favorite was the salmon with collard greens and candied yams. Simply delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone. Make a effort to go on Thursday nights for their 'Caribbean Summer thursdays ' the DJ is on point and keep the crowd grooving to the best reggae music.
