Visiting a friend in Sion Mills for just a few days and visited Restaurant 1861 twice. After our delicious meal the first time we had to go back before moving on in our travels. Our second visit was just as good. There were 4 of us and each meal was beautiful presented and so good we couldn’t stop raving about it. The staff is very friendly and attentive to our needs. Definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant
This renovated, historic listed building is situated in the middle of Sion Mills on the A5 road. It has been beautifully restored to its former glory. It incorporates a small museum, a fishing tackle shop and a great restaurant (Restaurant 1861). There is car parking behind the restaurant off the A5. Great place to visit for some historical information about Herdman's mill and the village as well as getting a bite to eat. Highly recommended.
Three of us had different choices of breakfast. In all three breakfasts the quality and taste of the products used were outstanding. We arrived early and the young waiter started our breakfasts until chef arrived. He was polite, friendly and it goes without saying could multi task! Lovely surroundings and will definitely be back
Excellent service, very attentive staff. Food was absolutely fantastic, steaks cooked perfectly to order and baked Alaska was something else. Highly recommend.
