It arrived in a bowl that could have held a swimming pool's worth of soup. The clam and bacon flavors were incredibly fresh and rich; it could have easily been my entire meal given the generous portion. And at just $6, it was a fantastic deal. Our server, a cheerful young woman named Asher, suggested we try the lobster roll on their special bread, which was an excellent recommendation. The lobster was fresh and consisted of both claw and tail meat, with no celery or fillers—just pure lobster and melted butter. I absolutely loved it. In total, our bill was a reasonable $30 for the lobster roll, chowder, fries, tax, and bottomless iced tea. The atmosphere was friendly, the place was clean, it was conveniently located near the water, and there was plenty of parking. With great food and even better value, I highly recommend this spot!
UPDATE: I've heard a rumor that they may have closed, which would be a shame because they had such a charming, hometown vibe, and the food was excellent during my two visits. I was looking forward to trying it again.
I was charged $3 for a club soda and had to wait a long time for our waitress. I ordered a lobster sandwich with a side Caesar salad, which came with a $3.50 upcharge. Unfortunately, the salad was barely dressed and lacked any distinctive flavor. The lobster sandwich was absolutely drenched in butter; the meat was overcooked and, frankly, there wasn’t much of it. It was so soaked in butter that my stomach hurt for hours afterward. To top it off, the bread was stale, so I ended up removing the top piece of the sandwich because it was just too much stale bread for my liking. My friend ordered a burger without a bun and asked to substitute a side salad. If the side salad had the $3.50 upcharge, it would have cost her around $13.50. Instead, the waitress suggested a mesclun salad ($9) with the burger on top (another $8). You can do the math on that one. Overall, there are certainly better dining options out there.
It might just be my taste, but stretches of Reggae music don't bother me in the least. Not my cuppa exactly, but not annoying. But once the Reggae cycle is over? The music is full on country music. This music makes me want to leave immediately! Service-always friendly. Food hit and miss. They need to ease up on the alas dressing for sure but the greens have been good quality for the most part.
