A local recommended it to us and we were extremely pleased. The selection of beers and ciders was great, but what really stood out was the food. The dishes were served promptly and cooked to perfection. The ham was delicious and the chips seemed to be triple-cooked. I especially enjoyed my homemade moussaka. The prices were fair and the service was excellent. I highly recommend dining at The Bear.
We had a delightful experience at The Bear. Our server, a lovely lady, took care of us and the food was delicious with plenty of options to choose from.
After attending Dogfest at Ragley Park, we decided to stop by this dog-friendly pub. Fortunately, the weather was nice so we were able to sit in the courtyard since the indoor seating seemed limited, especially with a dog. We all enjoyed the food, particularly the delicious lasagne. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We were so impressed that we returned a few days later because another member of our group wanted to try the lasagne they had seen me eat. Although we couldn't find a seat outside and the dog-friendly seating inside was full, the staff kindly allowed us to sit in another area. Despite there being no other customers in that area, we appreciated and were impressed by their realistic and flexible approach to accommodating us with the dog. It was refreshing to see such common sense flexibility. We wouldn't hesitate to return if we were in the area again.
Normally would rate this place but not today, on entry was told it was quiet so can’t understand why the service has slipped, we sat in the garden normally such a tranquil place but not today some guy was there with an electric saw and banging with nails and hammer, maybe best to do this not at lunchtime when people are trying to eat, our food came out and my friend asked for another drink and was told she could fetch this from the bar they actually brought our first drinks out so why not this one, there were literally 8 people in the whole place and normally they bring everything you need, I went to pay and stood for ages calling to see if I could pay in the end I had to go on the hunt for staff, no apology and when I said I’d been waiting ages some woman shouted don’t be rude! Do you normally speak to customers like this? I’ve been a regular for years but won’t be back even though the food is nice, there are so many other places to eat in the village where your treated nicely.
Dog friendly, the meal was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced. Dropped a star as seating area for people with dogs has fixed tables which my husband (who is large! found it difficult to sit at. Also, limited on fish dishes to prawns, which I like but would have preferred another choice of fish.
