Although the food was of good quality, I found the prices rather high part of that is due to the location of the restaurant as all the places in the area are overpriced. Service was excellent and the staff made sure to make the birthday person in the group was especially well taken care of. Good place for a special occasion if you can afford to splurge.
The view is the best in Pittsburgh, and fortunately we were able to sit at a window table. The desserts were exceptional the angel food one in particular. The appetizer was fine but not very flavorful. The entrees were just fair I had steak and my wife had fish (the latter a specialty of the restaurant). We were both pretty meh about our entrees. They weren 't terrible by any means decent even but for the experience and expectations of Monterrey Bay, honestly I expected better. Service was quite strong though a bit inconsistent with the timing and attentiveness. Overall value was moderate but not strong. I 'd still recommend it for special occasions for people new to the city the view is incomparable but don 't think we 'll otherwise plan to go back.
Though restaurant knew we were there for anniversary, we did not get a window table. Red snapper was way over cooked. Crabcake mushy. Excellent youcon potatoes and asparagus. Had to ask midway through meal for a glass of wine. Very poor attention by waiter Jeffrey. His assistant, Ann, was great. Though high class prices, not high class meal. Dinner music outstanding
Truly a wonderful experience! We were sat by the windows with a fantastic view and had the pleasure of having Jonathan as our waiter! Great job with the entire staff! We both had their acclaimed crab cakes, and they are some of the best we've ever enjoyed. I pared mine with scallop, hers with shrimp, and a sharable side of broccolini. And we topped it off sharing a larger than normal crème brûlée !
Monterey Bay has always been one of our favorite restaurants. Overall our experience was good but I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered the Parmesan crusted swordfish and it was over fried. My companion has the same and hers looked cooked perfectly. I didn't mention to the staff to be fair, as I'm sure they would have made it right, but in retrospect I am surprised that the servers didn't notice. They also seemed to have changed up the recipe for that.preparation. I recall it had a sauce before and now it has peppers on top. I preferred the former.
