Thanks but no thanks trip adviser. This came up as a weekday lunch selection but they aren't open until the evening
We ended up at the Malthouse for Sunday lunch because the pub we intended to go to didn't work out,but we're very glad we did. The carvery was really good value for money. We had a choice of pork, turkey, beef or lamb and the portions of meat were generous. A really good selection of well cooked vegetables and plenty of gravy left us very full but we did manage to squeeze in puddings, which were again very tasty. The staff were welcoming and attentive and we will definitely be returning.
Called in here after visiting Castle was a bit quiet but we need some lunch i had sausage and mash which to be fair was good but at i think £11.30 way over priced my partner i think had scampi cant remember price that wont be returning
We stayed here for 2 nights, the first night we enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar, which was served hot and a very good serving and tasted delicious I had the malt house steak and ale pie and my husband said his gammon steak was the best he had ever had! The bedroom was very clean and we were able to walk the very short distance to the castle for the wedding Breakfast was very good especially the perfect poached eggs!! Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble, I would definitely stay here again!
