If you are someone, like me, who uses OpenTable to see where to eat based on current availability, this is not that. Seems like the restaurant places your name on a list at the time of your reservation, it does not mean you will get a table at that time. I asked an employee who confirmed that, at Mexicali, an OpenTable reservation is not really a reservation but more of a waitlist. We waited 45 minutes for a table...with a reservation.
Bring ear plugs! Mexicali is a happening place, so much so that it is beyond belief noisy. At our most recent visit we could literally not hear each other across the table, This is not a new problem; we have repeatedly sworn off the restaurant because of the noise problem (at dinner; not nearly as bad at lunch ; when we do come back it's mostly because we live nearby and we're too lazy to go to someplace where your ears aren't ringing when you leave. The food's okay... but not good enough to make the restaurant worth visiting (unless you want to scream and shout at your dining companions! .
Fave restaurant for Mexican in Studio City, maybe in LA.
Food was really good, service was terrible at the table but excellent at the bar.
