We recently tried the affordable vegan menu at this restaurant and it was excellent. The service was very friendly as well.
I have to be honest, this review may come across as biased because we absolutely adored this place. While not fully vegan, the restaurant offers a variety of vegan options on both their daily and weekend menus. During our visit, their entire weekend special menu was vegan, and the daily menu often features completely vegan dishes as well. The standout item for us was the weekend special hot dog with fried soy strips - hands down the best vegan hot dog we've ever had. We also tried their vegan burgers with a homemade legume patty, as well as their take on 'fašírky', which are essentially small meatball-like bites made from the same mix. Everything was delicious, and the sauce served with the baked potato and lentil dish was light and flavorful. The service was exceptional, with a lone waitress running around to ensure that guests were taken care of even during busy times. The restaurant also has a lovely zero-waste shop. However, what truly won us over was the family-friendly atmosphere at Makovice. The establishment features a large children's playground and a tree-covered terrace, showing that the owners have families in mind. The spacious indoor play area with a climbing wall further demonstrates their commitment to providing a welcoming environment for families. While it may not have been the best vegan food we've ever had, the service was top-notch, and the bistro was beautifully designed. Overall, it was the most enjoyable dining experience we've had in years. We wished we lived closer so we could visit more often. This review may not be entirely objective, but Makovice is exactly what we're looking for now - a place that feels like home and serves food that warms both our hearts and stomachs.
This restaurant offers a daily menu of homemade quality (soup, main dish salad). It was mainly vegetarian, but vegan options were offered more and more often until it seems that they turned to full vegan. I would reach the owner and if confirmed, I would suggest their reclassification at Happy Cow to Vegan. Since they focus on the zero-waste style, it is advisable to book lunch before (day until 11:00) as the number of intentions is limited. In addition to the restaurant itself, Makovice also serves as an educational centre for environmentally friendly alternatives and self-development.
Every day another well-priced vegan menu. the one we tried was great. service was really nice.
