Three people for dinner on a Tuesday after hiking. We ordered a few appetizers, the lamb, trout, and fried chicken, but the only thing I remember were the rosemary chips. Long story short, we were told the kitchen hates the chips, and they take up a lot of frier space in a small kitchen so we can't have them as an app to share, just a side. So, given that I was desperate for the deliciously described fried potatoes, I ordered them as a side. I was in a beautiful restaurant with great reviews and prices to match their reputation and the kitchen sent out soggy, day old chips that none of us ate. Why have them on the menu if you are going to complain about their popularity and mar the guest's experience? I've passed by a few times these past few weeks and thought about stopping by to share this story, but then I think, omg, it's only chips. I'm out of my mind to do that. Bottom line, in my opinion, ditch the chips, Chef!
I took my father here for lunch and we loved it. We ordered Frog Legs as a starter, and it was his first time trying them and he wanted more. I got the shrimp and grits and the sauce and large shrimp made the dish spectacular! Even comes with some bread to dip with. We also got peach cobbler and a cake they had from the Inn down the road. I don't even like peaches, but it was extremely good.
We loved the place, amazing food, and great service. I had a trout, my husband the grits, and our friend the fried chicken. All amazing. Not mentioning the divine peach cobbler with coconut pineapple ice cream!
What a wonderful place. Excellent food and service. The restaurant is in a great old house. We sat on the porch. You can make reservations. The porch is first come. Our server was Hollis. She made our dinner an exceptional experience. She was fun knowledgeable and on top of her game. We started with the fried okra served with a smoked remoulade sauce. Wow it was fantastic. Nothing missed the mark. Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, meatloaf and trout. Everyone was pleased. I highly recommend Over Younder....you will not be disappointed.
