The food at Joy-Joy's is consistently excellent, especially when it comes to seafood. Iloilo, along with other places in the Visayas, is known for its fresh seafood and Joy-Joy's always delivers in this aspect. They serve dishes that are simply prepared through grilling, steaming, or cooking in sour soup, allowing the freshness of the seafood to shine through.
My friends and I visited the original branch of this restaurant in Dumangas (they have another branch in Leganes) and we had a truly delightful experience. We were the only customers there, just the six of us. When we arrived around 1 PM, we even found one waiter relaxing on a bamboo bench. It seems like the other branch is more popular, as we could see a bustling crowd there. The view of the river was lovely, and the gentle afternoon breeze was quite relaxing. Once our orders of steamed oysters, steamed shrimps, grilled squids, steamed crabs, and plates of garlic rice started arriving, we eagerly dug in. We didn't try the sinigang soup, as it was the only soup option available. Unfortunately, we also missed out on their featured adobado since it wasn't available at that time. The restaurant could use some renovations, new menu items to spice things up, and a more energetic staff.
This charming restaurant is located just off the road. Don't be fooled by its exterior, as they serve incredibly delicious seafood. You can even bring your own raw ingredients for them to cook for you, for an additional charge. The service is excellent, with a attentive crew. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Dumanggas.
