Hungry Hippo - Sunderland

This restaurant used to be great, but unfortunately, it has really declined. The wraps are bland and lack flavor, and they've switched from the thin, crispy chips to thicker ones that arrive cold and taste bland. It's a significant downgrade; they used to serve excellent chicken wraps, but the quality has completely changed, and nothing they offer now seems worthwhile. Sadly, I won’t be ordering from them again. What a disappointment.

The decor was quite pleasant and matched the theme of the restaurant nicely. The tables were clean and well spaced out. We ordered the Grill Platter, which included a variety of items, featuring some doner in their homemade sauce. Most of the meats were delicious and juicy, although a few pieces of chicken were slightly dry. The doner was good, but it could use more of a kick compared to others we've tasted. That said, they do aim to cater to a range of tastes. The chips were average but cooked to my preference. I think the salad could have benefited from some onions and tomatoes, but it was still satisfactory since it came with coleslaw. The dips were tasty, though they could be a bit larger; however, it’s hard to complain too much considering the reasonable price, especially given the portion size of the food. I would definitely come back to try some of the other menu options.

Honestly only bad thing to say is that it is too nice and the portion sizes mean you can't eat it all! Staff were very polite and welcoming to my partner who was collecting it as there was a little wait.Can't wait to come try the food out properly and go in. Compliments to the chef, really was outstanding food.
