May Hong Chop Suey House - Sunderland

The restaurant serves delicious Chinese cuisine at affordable prices. They have been in business for many years and have built a well-deserved reputation. They offer a good variety of dishes and banquet options. While they did not used to offer delivery, it seems like they do now which is a bonus. Even if you have to pick up your order, you should not have to wait more than 30 minutes. Keep trying if you can't get through right away as they can get very busy.

Use better quality ingredients to make better food than most Chinese takeaway. Would recommend and will use again

Just bought a couple of meals from here tonight and so disappointed that I felt I had to leave a review because it has been the same on the last couple of occasions. The salt n pepper chilli chicken is not fresh, the batter is over cooked and is separated from the chicken, it’s also very brown in colour and greasy therefore I think it probably needs fresh oil the chicken is either reheated or old because it is brown in colour and very tough and not really edible because it’s so hard to chew. I use May Hong takeaway regularly but afraid it’s not a nice meal anymore which I’m sad to say as I’ve bought from here for years. I have mentioned this to them before and it improved when I collected but seems to just go back to selling it like this. I don’t feel I should have to keep mentioning it Hope they take this onboard as they are nice people but feel they’ve become complacent. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this.

I went to this restaurant tonight and was supposed to receive free chips with the black bean dish. I didn't realize when paying, but later noticed that I was charged for the chips. This has happened before when I paid the difference for salt and pepper chips, they charged me for a whole new order. I have been a loyal customer for months and never expected them to try to overcharge me. It's disappointing to realize that no matter how friendly they seem, all they care about is making money. I won't be returning.

Great place we order from there at least once a week, always quality food and very tasty. I strongly disagree with the negative comments on here and the chips are always properly cooked.
