Rokko Japanese - Sunnyvale

Our visit to this Japanese restaurant was incredibly disappointing and easily the worst we have ever had. The food was way too salty, and the Yakisoba ingredients were overpowering. Furthermore, every dish we tried was drenched in excessive oil and salt, leaving us desperate for some water, which was not provided. Even the fried items were missing dipping sauce, which was disappointing. On top of that, despite the sweltering heat outside, the air conditioning wasn't on inside, making it uncomfortably hot and stuffy. Overall, our dining experience was far from pleasant.

I was initially intrigued by the wide variety of options on the menu, similar to IHOP where you can customize your meal with different combinations of eggs and sides. However, my experience at this restaurant was underwhelming. The okonomiyaki lacked ample seafood, containing only 1 scallop, 4 small pieces of squid, and was mostly filled with cabbage and topped with tonkatsu mayo sauce. The fish rice bowl looked appealing but was not particularly noteworthy, possibly missing traditional sushi seasoning. The standout dish was the steak don, although the addition of shishito peppers with wasabi flavoring was confusing. At $20 for lunch, I believe there are better Japanese dining options available elsewhere.

We enjoyed the hamachi carpaccio and tempura. The hamachi was a thicker cut and loaded with sliced green onions and tomatoes.However, we were slightly disappointed with the Deluxe Meshi. The menu said it would have crunchy skillet rice , which instead was just normal rice, not crispy nor crunchy.

I love dining at this Japanese restaurant. They have a wide variety of delicious rice bowls, including my favorites - Yakiniku don, premium chirashi, and deluxe meshi. The Combo set meals are also amazing and perfect for sharing. The staff is very friendly and always greets me with a warm "welcome back." I hope they continue to add more dishes to their menu!

Nice Japanese food in San Jose! Dishes r delicious and the size is pretty ok!
