First impressions were of a dated restaurant which could be better. No table cloths and tired looking plates and cutlery. The waiter was seemingly not interested in what he was doing and clearly wanted to be elsewhere. Then the food came, it wasn't great. In fact it was pretty average at best. certainly not worth the price. Apparently there is such a thing as too quick service. Two courses were rushed out in just over half and hour leaving us feeling like we didn't have the chance to enjoy our meal. It's a a shame as there aren't many independent restaurants left in town.
Eat here quite regularly, and tonight's visit was every bit as good as usual. Good ambiance, tasty food, and more than adequate portions. Will be back again in future.
Appalling, not much else I can say. We went for mums birthday, a party of, no atmosphere and a very empty restaurant. From the second we walked in, something didn’t feel right. We have been here many many times over the years and it has always been fantastic. Sadly it’s a shadow of its former self. From the flat gin and tonic, to the slow service. One waitress on the floor, 3 table in the place. Our starters were tepid, the mixed house starter was ok, tiny fish cake though, Oran toast was ok and the money bag and filo wrapped prawns were barely warm and not crisp, they tasted like they’d been sat under hot lights for a while. I might add the service was very slow, nearly an hour before we record food. Our mains came out eventually, rice wasn’t hot, which is **** dangerous from a good safety point of view and should be served ABOVE 63 degrees Celsius minimum. 6 mains came out, 5 rice, the following five and mains came after about 10 minutes. The massaman chicken curry had a pathetic offering of chicken in it and was bulked out by a lot of new potatoes, my red duck curry was more brown than red and the duck was cooked to destruction and was more like bulky beef than duck. So after speaking to a seemingly drunk and rather grubby manager/owner who blamed everything and everyone about why it was so poor. We paid and left. Needless to say we shall never return and are very sad to see what was a fantastic restaurant in such a sorry state.
We ordered a take away the past weekend. We drove 25 minutes to get there and another 20 mins back, because we liked it so much the last few times we ordered from them. When we got home we were very unhappy to find that there was hardly any green curry in the container. Looked like less than a quarter container of food. The masamam curry was awful. It was tasteless, full of water and inedible. Lets not forget the thai starter for 2. A fish cake the size of a 2 pound coin 1 of each. For two people? No ways! When I called, the manager was extremely rude. His response was that he is not a chef and there is nothing he can do. He began raising his voice asking me what do i want what do i want without even giving me the opportunity to explain. He was so rude I couldn't even fathom this kind of behaviour from a manager. I said I understand it was a busy evening but can he call me back. Never heard from him. I paid 36 pounds and we couldn't even eat it all. The only thing that was a little edible was the papaya salad. The green curry was also tastless and watery. Whatever that was in the container. We ended up ordering a pizza instead. So disapointing. I would like a full refund but alas, no response.
The smell of old cooking oil greets you as you enter. We shared starter platters, all deep fried. The food was poor, curries like soup and lacking flavours and oomph. Pad Thai, dreadful, lots of fried bits. We were 5 and all very disappointed.
