However, both my daughter and I later experienced severe stomachaches and I ended up vomiting. I am pretty certain it was food poisoning. I would advise avoiding this restaurant altogether. Something has definitely gone wrong there, as the quality has significantly declined.
I recently tried Chapter5 Thai for the first time since it had changed ownership a few times before. I have to admit, I was a bit underwhelmed. I ordered the beef kraprao, which was supposed to be very spicy, but it was actually quite mild. The beef was also tough and chewy. My husband enjoyed his chicken with ginger sauce, however. I also tried the prawn and minced chicken vermicelli salad, which lacked enough sauce and the chicken was dry slices of chicken breast instead of minced chicken. The takeaway was quite pricey, with just 3 dishes costing £30, so I made my own rice at home. We did receive a complimentary packet of Thai prawn crackers, which was a nice gesture. Overall, I was disappointed and unlikely to order again unless absolutely necessary.
My dining experience at Chapter5 was disappointing. Both the chicken Pad Thai and crispy squid were bland and oily, and lacked freshness. The Pad Thai was particularly lacking in chicken. The complimentary bag of crackers was small, and the chili sauce was not enjoyable. I prefer sweet chili sauce. I miss the delicious food at the Old Thai House. Chapter5 should consider reducing their menu and improving the quality of their dishes.
Good food but poor service overall from the old man (front of house). Greeted us rudely at the beginning when we tried to choose our seats. Could have politely redirected us but started speaking rudely in his native language and pointing us to another table. Definitely no value for money (bill came to 120 pds for 3 ppl without ordering drinks desserts)and were charged extra money for takeaway boxes. Not coming back. Esp from a service standpoint.
We liked the service, the drinks were delicious and the dessert was lovely (both taste and presentation-wise). The Pad Thai was mediocre this time, though. The prawn was not too bad, but the chicken was definitely not the usual quality (it was too thinly sliced, dry and a bit chewy). We are hoping that it was a one-off hiccup and next time it'll be the usual quality again.
