It was 9pm when we arrived, but they welcomed us like we were their first customers. We all decided on the special, which included an appetizer, a main and a desert. Our appetizer of calamari was lightly battered, hot and freshly prepared...delicious. The main we selected was a slow roasted lamb dish and the desert was well fantastic. The service was excellent as they were very helpful and knew when to come around. As we were leaving I told the server that everything was perfect and ask for a card so I could do a write up. She then returned with a card and the owner and he had a round of liquors for us, so he sat down with us were we talk about Greece for 15 minutes. What a wonderful evening, we will certainly be back.
Attended with friend to celebrate Christmas during noon hour...place was half EMPTY! No need for a reservation...wow.The usual hummus, pita for starters...differently prepared than what I am used to.As well, rack of lamb,Greek salad ..different as well...what happened to the OREGANO?Greek food, prepared as I have not experienced anywhere in my travels.
We met cousins at Kiki’s for dinner the other night. We both had the chicken souvlaki and it was good. The tzatziki was different from what we are accustomed to. It was a very thick paste and seemed to lack that strong garlic pungency that we love. It was a great spot to meet up with family and we had a good time reminiscing. Our server was very nice.
We look for Greek food on our travels throughout Canada. It's a healthier option, and we enjoy Greek cuisine. So we shoehorned our big truck into the parking lot behind Kiki's one late afternoon, and walked in through the rear entrance. The restaurant decor is very up-to-date, if a tad bland, and perfectly acceptable and a bit upscale. The waitress let us pick our table, after cautioning us that they were expecting a party of about 40 in half an hour. Thus forewarned, we picked a booth near the rear entrance, away from the main dining room (expecting the group to be a bit loud, as even groups on their best behaviour tend to get). There was a long wait to order while our waitress dealt with the till, chatted with people at the bar, and - in a voice clearly audible from our table 15 feet away - said she was dying for a cigarette. We had lots of time with the menu, and when our server returned, we quickly put in our order for a Greek platter for two. When she returned with the Greek salad that comes with the platter, we had to ask for cutlery, as there was nothing on the table. She apologized, explaining that the booths near the rear entrance were not set already with knives and forks like the other parts of the restaurant. The salad was tasty, but notably lacking in olives; one lonely Kalamata olive was the sole representative of its species. It's not unusual for Greek restaurants to skimp on olives; they are a pricy ingredient, and many people don't care for them, making them a natural to cut back on. (Extra olives are usually available if you ask, but our server was too busy.) But just one olive suggests a lack of commitment to authenticity. When the rest of the platter arrived, the food really felt very generic. The bold flavours of garlic, oregano, and basil were weak here, and there wasn't a sign of lemons to be had. The service became even slower after the group of 40 had arrived. Apparently there was a local power outage, and residents were dining out as a result. However, the service had been poor from the time we arrived. If you don't care for the bold flavours of Greek food, and don't mind slow service, give Kiki's a try. The food was okay, it just didn't meet our expectations and we later found a better Greek restaurant in the area. But Kiki's is not on our list of places worth a return visit.
We were a group of 6, service was very slow. We were not offered a drink until all parties had arrived, so sat for about 15 min with no attention. Once the meal was ordered had to wait quite awhile. Food was very good. We were never asked if we wanted another drink. We then sat for quite awhile waiting for our bills which were mixed up and had to be corrected. Will probably not go here again.
