At the end of this very underwhelming breakfast we were given the over priced bill to top it off! P.s. cumin shouldnt be in smashed avo!!!!
Basket Brothers is a popular cafe at the corner of Elizabeth Street and Wentworth Avenue (near Central Station) which serves an assortment of comfort food. One of them is the renowned bacon and egg roll which features streaky bacon and a sumptuous homemade barbecue sauce. The roll was juicy and flavourful and the sauce just oozed out of the roll as I bite them. A worthwhile breakfast on a cold autumn morning!
Great service and tasty breakfast and good coffee. Staying nearby and decided to give BB a go - we were not disappointed. Bacon and egg roll was nice as was the sandwich that I had with roasted mushrooms and haloumi. Prices are easy on the pocket also!
Great food and EXCELLENT coffee (if you like strong black). Very helpful and friendly staff. And the cherry on top: the music that they play is as if it is from my favourite playlist.
I was a bit disappointed that the weekend menu was a cut-down version of the weekday one, as the chicken sandwich I had my eye on wasn't available. Ended up getting the Bircher muesli and a skim cap. The muesli looked good, topped with assorted fruits. It had a nice consistency but unfortunately, it was far too sweet. It tasted mostly like cheap, supermarket apple juice. Coffee was still solid and my friend enjoyed the berry smoothie. Service was friendly and welcoming. ---Previous visit--- Basket Brothers was busy on a Sunday, no doubt in large part to its central location. My skim cap made with Allpress beans was a pleasant drink with a lovely chocolate flavour. Fresh juice wasn't on the menu but the kitchen made the mixed berry smoothie without milk for my lactose intolerant friend. A very refreshing drink perfect for the stifling weather. The French toast was just alright, not very memorable. The soft slices of eggy bread were drizzled in chocolate and maple syrup with mascarpone and berries on top. Simple and tasted like something you could whip up at home. I'm keen to try the brisket though as it is their speciality.
