Golden Pide - Surry Hills

I visited last week and tried the potato pide and spinach/cheese gozleme. While they may not be the absolute best versions of these dishes I've ever had, they were still delicious. The no-frills dining area provides a perfect spot to watch the hustle and bustle of Cleveland St. Both dishes were generously sized and served on wooden boards with lemon wedges and a scoop of dip, all for a reasonable price of $13-$14. I personally prefer simple and satisfying meals like this over hyped-up and disappointing new dishes.

The food, service, delivery time, and quality at this restaurant are truly outstanding. Golden Pide is consistently efficient, and the food always arrives hot and in perfect condition. I am always a satisfied customer.

Hadn't enjoyed a gyros for ages just happened by chance to be near this rather garish corner Turkish meets ??? operation in Cleveland St near South Dowling Street. Clean as a whistle Covid Safe proud of that (phew in truth its...more of a takeaway ..but there's just room for persons in this tiny corner shop so my luncheon was thus determined as a done deal! Now who knows how this happened with the various food names of this type of cuisine, but all over Sydney, Turks, Greeks Lebanese etc all seem to delight in employing totally DIFFERENT NAMES for what is essentially EXACTLY the same food! EG Here the Gyros (as I know them most times become Kebabs ! Yep! Not a skewer in sight! So to me (who HAS been to Turkey, Greece, Israel Jordan) those shaved meats (I chose chicken) roasted on a vertical simply CANNOT be called KEBABS....but as The Bard observed a rose by any other name .generously filled, very salty/tasty highly satisfying it was too! Cheap as well ! What's not to like? I fancied chilli sauce (definitely not a classic offering but Hey~! to my shame struggled to eat the very hot (good beast without subsequently making a considerable mess on the table...but my welcome lunch had been made to order with friendly care. so who cares if its not authentically' menu-listed tucker ..?

Ordered here multiple times and never had a bad experience. Food is always fresh tasty. The staff are friendly and fast service.

Super Fresh ingredients good quick service at a reasonable price. I really enjoyed my lunch, numerous options with the extras such as Red Cabbage Grated Carrot not normally found in a Kebab Shop. They are really big no good for the small appetite.
