Hoost - Surry Hills

Had my birthday here and absolutely loved it. The restaurant offers such a great fusion menu and everything was so tasty. Very friendly staff and great service. Very reasonable price as well. This is definitely going to be the next hot spot.

A local gem situated away from the busy streets of Surry Hills. It was a quite Saturday night and we were the first to arrive for the dinner seating. The staff are very friendly and professional. The ambience is welcoming at the small sized restaurant. There was no alcohol on the menu so we opted for their non alcoholic sparklers which was delicious with its strawberry and mint flavours. So nice and refreshing. Upon looking at the menu, we wanted to order everything. The Uni game is definitely strong at this restaurant and boy were we excited. All the dishes were flavoursome and delicious. The Uni dishes were definitely on point.

Hoost was a pleasant experience. The highlight for me was the intimateness and cosy ambience of the restaurant. I don't think I have ever felt so content and comfortable within a restaurant environment before. Obviously, the food was good to be able complete this overall feeling. Favorite dishes were the roasted chipotle cauliflower (good spicy kick), the Koji aged wagyu fillet with the tasty chimichurri, and the pork and kangaroo dumplings. For something fun and different, go for the 60 degree egg small dish. It was an interesting one, and had all the elements there for texture and flavour. The sea urchin was nice and fresh without that fishy taste. The uni carbonara is another one, which was a cool innovative take on pasta, using a very similar concept to the small dish mentioned above. Nice smooth flavour. Good spot for a date night I think.

Outstanding food. Truly special. Sophisticated cooking techniques resulting in refined deliciousness. An unusual experience, we were pleasantly surprised.
